Workfront Releases a Mobile Marketing App

Workfront's cloud-based platform is designed to give marketing teams comprehensive project management. Today, the company announced its new mobile app for iOS and Android, which provides marketers with the ability to take charge of projects and teams regardless of location.

The Workfront mobile app provides users with three key capabilities: reviewing assets on the go, supporting productivity and responsiveness, and promoting communication and time tracking. Users can manage work requests, view documents, and receive project notifications all from their mobile devices. The app can also deliver project updates and comments—as well as label tasks and issues as completed. Finally, it uses a company directory feature that allows users to communicate easily with one another.

"The new Workfront mobile app is a significant leap forward in actually allowing knowledge workers to do business work on a smartphone or tablet," Shawn Dickerson, director of solutions marketing at Workfront, told CRM Magazine via email. "Outside of email, most of us aren't really accustomed to completing tasks or projects away from the laptop. We might comment on a post or weigh in on a thread, but things like assigning work, tracking progress on a key project, proofing a document, managing approvals, or tracking time have been reserved for the desk and a full Web experience. The new Workfront mobile app changes that. All of those functions—plus a company directory with one-touch contact information for everyone in the organization—are available on iOS or Android devices through the Workfront app."

The Workfront platform is designed to enhance and speed up workflows. Its request management feature provides users with a central location for incoming work requests, and enables them to prioritize accordingly. The platform offers both canned and custom templates, allowing users to easily begin new projects. A job history component enables users to view all comments, corrections, and versions of a project; documents can be shared among team members without relying on long email threads.

Users can also communicate within the context of their projects, instead of relying on email. Furthermore, all of these communications are documented, so conversations can be easily referenced. Users can give other team members real-time feedback and endorsements, with the goal of cultivating camaraderie. Additionally, the status of projects is updated in real time, enabling all contributors to view changes and communications instantly via a live update stream.

Workfront also includes a customizable marketing calendar view that gives users a choice in how to view updates. An Outlook plug-in enables users to manage projects and requests directly from their inboxes. The solution's reports and dashboards put project metrics in a single place, with the goal of providing complete visibility into a project.
