ISM Reveals Its Top 15 Award Winners
CRM vendors will continue to focus on delivering Web-based applications and SMB solutions, according to Barton Goldenberg, president of ISM. The findings come after ISM surveyed the winners of its Top 15 Software Award for enterprise and SMB business solutions. ISM has been giving these awards since 1990.
To determine the winners ISM rates each software package according to 211 selection criteria, including 109 business functions, 49 technical features, 36 implementation capabilities, and 17 user-support features. Based on this testing process and a survey conducted with the 30 winners, Goldenberg predicts continued growth for on-demand applications and the SMB market.
Goldenberg says a number of technological trends will punctuate 2006, including the expanding use of XML, VoIP, and integrating computer telephony services with CRM software in the contact center. In addition, analytic app vendors will continue to merge with CRM providers, and SOA and wireless will become increasingly common as vendors look to switch to new architectures to support their systems. "In the effort to keep up with the demands of customers, vendors are placing increased emphasis on self-service and Web-enabled CRM packages. This includes CRM software vendors moving their architecture from client/server, Web-enabled, and three-tier architectures to N-tiered architected Web-based applications," Goldenberg says.
ISM also noted a growing adoption of CRM software by SMBs, citing AMR Research's prediction that the SMB market will reach $44 billion in CRM sales within the next nine years. While the enterprise market will still remain the primary battleground, Goldenberg says the SMB market has matured to CRM and represents a huge opportunity for CRM vendors.
