Xactly Express Links up with Intuit QuickBooks

On-demand sales compensation company Xactly announced today that it has integrated the Xactly Express product with Intuit QuickBooks, promising system users a more accurate payout process.

"Our strategic arch was that about forty percent of the time, the finance system of record that we see in Express is QuickBooks," explains Scott Broomfield, senior vice president and general manager of Xactly's SMB division. "It became apparent to us that we wanted to create a single sign-on, so that it's a seamless interface to the customer."

Xactly Express now has a direct feed into Intuit data architecture, which eliminates a "complicated mapping process," Broomfield says. When a QuickBooks user enters a transaction in the system, things like sales commissions, bonuses, and SPIFFs can now be credited directly to team members through Xactly Express.

"From a small business point of view, you can use QuickBooks as 'a source of truth,'" comments Alex Barnett, developer relations group manager at Intuit. "Data being read out of QuickBooks is being written back [from Express] with any changes into QuickBooks. From a customer point of view, everything reconciles."

Barnett says that Intuit counts more than 4.5 million companies using the QuickBooks desktop service. That number is about 400,000 for QuickBooks Online. According to Broomfield, out of the total number of QuickBooks Online users, "we think about 38,000 of those are right in our sweet spot—between five and fifteen reps."

Xactly Express will be available through the Intuit App Center this summer. The app center serves as a channel or online destination for QuickBooks desktop or online customers to test out other apps from independent software vendors in order to save time or money.

"We're seeing a lot of small-business processes going online, and becoming more automated," Barnett says. "There are a lot of business processes that occur offline on paper, or in Excel, and this compensation management solution is a really good example of a company like Xactly identifying a problem and providing a solution to solve it."
