SurveyMonkey Finally Finds Its Footing: The 2026 CRM Conversation Starters

SurveyMonkey has been embroiled in something of an identity crisis over the past few years. The company, which was founded in 1999, rebranded as Momentive in June 2021 to reflect a broader focus on experience management and enterprise applications, though it kept SurveyMonkey as the name of its core product. A few months later, in October 2021, Zendesk announced plans to acquire Momentive for about $4.1 billion. The deal was terminated, though, when Zendesk’s shareholders voted against the acquisition. Then in March 2023, investment firm STG acquired Momentive for $1.5 billion.

Following the STG acquisition, the SurveyMonkey brand was revived, which has returned the company to the industry leadership position it once enjoyed.

The company has also moved around over the years, with headquarters originally in Madison, Wis., then in Portland, Ore., and Palo Alto, Calif., before settling in at its current location in San Mateo, Calif.

A number of strategic acquisitions, including TechValidate, GetFeedback, Usabilia, Fluidware, Precision Polling, Wufoo, and Zoomerang, also diluted the company’s brand identity.

Now on a more stable geographic, ownership, and branding footing, SurveyMonkey has been able to refocus its attention on its portfolio of products to collect data and gain insights through customizable surveys and forms. In recent months, it has launched several significant products. It started last September with the release of the AI Analysis Suite and supercharged survey creation tools. The AI Analysis Suite brings together features that allow users to interact with survey and form results in conversational language using Analyze with AI, a new chat-based analysis feature. It can also automatically identify and categorize open-ended text responses into key themes with Thematic Analysis and includes sentiment analysis and response quality scoring.

Then in February SurveyMonkey launched a free tools hub, a public destination where anyone can create AI-powered surveys and access a suite of research tools. At the center of the hub is SurveyMonkey’s AI survey generator, which allows visitors to instantly generate and preview survey drafts from a simple prompt. In as little as 30 seconds, the tool transforms a plain-language goal into a structured questionnaire to help ensure every question is clear, unbiased, and designed for stronger completion rates across more than 50 languages. Beyond AI-powered survey creation, the free tools hub includes interactive calculators for Net Promoter Score and customer satisfaction, sample size, margin of error, target audience pricing, A/B testing, and more.

In March, the company expanded its Salesforce integration, enabling Salesforce users to send personalized survey invites by text message when key events happen in Salesforce; create the workflows that trigger personalized SMS survey invites; and customize messages by inserting Salesforce data fields like customer names, case numbers, and specific details directly into the SMS.

April saw SurveyMonkey launch more than a dozen prebuilt guided programs for everything from employee engagement to customer experience and market research to help users collect and act on feedback while tracking how sentiment evolves over time.

In May, the company released a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector that lets users create and edit surveys, analyze responses, and surface insights from feedback data, all without leaving Anthropic’s Claude AI chat interface.

SurveyMonkey followed that in June with the release of LaunchPad, a dedicated suite of ready-to-run, automated market research solutions for marketing and product professionals. SurveyMonkey LaunchPad offers guided, pay-as-you-go research solutions that help teams test product concepts, campaign messaging, pricing, and creative with targeted audiences in a matter of hours.

And in July, SurveyMonkey revitalized the GetFeedback brand with the release of GetFeedback by SurveyMonkey, a simplified self-serve experience for marketing, product, and digital customer experience teams to collect customer feedback directly on their websites. GetFeedback captures and analyzes feedback at the exact moment visitors hesitate, encounter friction, or abandon their journeys, revealing why visitors behave the way they do. With it, marketing teams can optimize landing pages and conversion funnels; product teams can uncover onboarding friction and improve activation; e-commerce teams can identify what’s driving cart abandonment; and UX teams can continuously improve digital experiences.
