The Market

Grand View Research estimates the 2026 marketing automation platforms market at $8.4 billion, up from $6.7 billion in 2024 and heading toward $15.6 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual rate of 15.3 percent.

The firm identified email marketing as the largest market segment (at 26.7 percent), though it sees real-time reporting and analytics capabilities as the biggest area of demand going forward, enabling marketers to measure the performance of their strategies, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and identify areas for improvement, bring customers personalized content and recommendations, and provide one-on-one humanlike assistance with chatbots and virtual assistants.

Giving into market demands, system vendors have shifted attention to larger integrated software suites that also include analytics, CRM integrations, content management, and budgeting and optimization tools.

And while some CRM systems have seen low adoption among practitioners, marketing automation has not had that issue. Fortune Business Insights estimates that more than 90 percent of digital marketers use some form of automation or embedded artificial intelligence tool.

The Top Five

Marketing automation is central to ActiveCampaign, and its capabilities in that area expanded greatly in February when the company acquired Feedback Intelligence, providers of an AI evaluation and analytics tool that turns raw conversations into actionable performance insights. The acquisition will enhance ActiveCampaign’s Active Intelligence, its AI engine that powers autonomous marketing workflows and generates thousands of conversations daily between AI agents and users,

When it comes to marketing automation innovation, few companies move as quickly or as intently as HubSpot. Many of these innovations have been designed to make HubSpot Marketing Hub a more user-friendly platform for midmarket inbound marketing, Industry analysts have long recognized HubSpot Marketing Hub’s dominance in ease of use, powered by its native connection to HubSpot’s CRM, sales, and commerce tools; intuitive user interface; education and onboarding tools; seamless data flow between marketing and sales pipelines; and its strong push into AI, such as Breeze Assistant and agent tools.

Some analysts had feared that marketing automation might take a back seat at Klaviyo, which has increased its emphasis on its larger B2B CRM system. That hasn’t happened, and in some respects, Klaviyo has even bolstered what was already a robust marketing automation portfolio. This was highlighted by the launch months ago of its Marketing Agent, which can autonomously plan and launch complete campaigns in minutes, create on-brand content, personalize every send, and continuously learn not only the brand’s voice and catalog but larger industry trends and historical performance data. It also launched Social Marketing in July, making social media an owned marketing channel that connects interactions on platforms like Instagram directly into unified customer profiles.

Analyst evaluations of Salesforce Marketing Cloud and related technologies constantly point to the platform’s enterprise power, flexibility, and broad and robust capabilities for data management, AI engagement, analytics, and cross-channel orchestration and execution. And now through Salesforce’s Einstein and Agentforce technologies, Salesforce has among the strongest AI integrations. “Salesforce continues to bring marketing automation capabilities on the platform while enabling marketers with very effective AI,” notes Rebecca Wettemann, founder and CEO of Valoir.

Among analysts, Zoho Marketing has a solid reputation as a tightly integrated, unified, cost-effective platform that helps midmarket companies reduce marketing and advertising software clutter, solve data fragmentation issues, and streamline multichannel campaign creation and real-time performance and impact analysis. The product also gains praise for team collaboration capabilities, attribution clarity across channels, funnel visibility, and its unified view of the customer across marketing touchpoints. “Zoho continues to deliver on core marketing capabilities as well as adjacent modules like events,” Wettemann says.
