Salesforce.com Parts Company With CEO Dillon

Salesforce.com President and CEO John Dillon has parted ways with the company he co-founded two years ago, Reuters reported Wednesday.

Dillon's departure from salesforce.com was "jointly decided" with Marc Benioff, current chairman and co-founder, according to Benioff. The two founded the San Francisco-based sales automation solutions provider in 1999.

The company has not yet begun searching for a new CEO, said Benioff, who will assume Dillon's duties in the interim.

Benioff said that despite the change in management, he still expects salesforce.com to achieve profitability by first fiscal quarter of 2002, which ends in May.

"Transitions are very good and healthy for companies," said Benioff. Dillon's departure "will usher in the next stage of salesforce.com's growth."

Dillon was president and CEO of Sunnyvale-based Hyperion Solutions before starting salesforce.com. He could not be reached for comment.
