SAP Previews Sales OnDemand
SAP this week is unveiling its Sales OnDemand solution, the first application in a new category of “people-centric” solutions from SAP and also the first to be built on the SAP Business ByDesign platform.
Sales OnDemand will offer sales professionals tools to better communicate with people in their networks, collaborate with teams on opportunities, and manage customer information. The application will available before June.
Saswato Das, spokesperson for SAP, says Sales OnDemand is a “brand new approach” designed for how people sell today. “In the business of selling products, gone are the days of one person going to sell a product alone. Today, it literally takes a village to close a deal,” Das observes. “It involves selling anywhere, anytime, with collaboration from people who may be travelling or are out of the office.”
SAP worked closely with about 50 existing customers to create this product. Das says customers can see the entire sales process, as well as subscribe to feeds that deliver news about users’ sales accounts. “We wanted to deliver a very different user interface from anything that is out there today that integrates real-time customer information and analytics,” Das explains. “It’s a really up-to-date, user-friendly way of selling.”
Sales OnDemand was built with a focus on the way people work together, share information, and exchange insight. According to John Wookey, executive vice president of Line of Business On Demand at SAP, “customer co-innovation” is pivotal for SAP to continue meeting real customer business requirements.
“This is particularly important as we seek to address this new business area, in which every person, however involved in supporting and meeting sales and business objectives, is our intended user,” Wookey said in a statement. “With these new solutions SAP is responding to the way in which people work together today to solve business problems anytime, anywhere.”
Additional solutions will join the existing SAP portfolio of line-of-business on-demand software and will be made available throughout the year. One of these solutions will optimize expense management by helping customers control expenses, gain visibility into travel expenses, and meet regulatory requirements. Another solution will assist human resources professionals in supporting employee performance management, employee development, and career planning.
