In the Money: Vendors Announce Quarterly Earnings

Ascential Software, a provider of enterprise data integration, announced preliminary results for third-quarter 2004. Total third-quarter 2004 revenue is expected to be about $67 million, compared with $45.9 million in third-quarter 2003. Licensed revenue is expected to finish around $26 million for third-quarter 2004. This would be an increase from the $22.4 million of licensed revenue in third-quarter of the prior year. Click Commerce, a provider of collaborative extranet solutions, has announced results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2004. Third-quarter 2004 total revenues were $7.1 million and net income was $1.5 million--the company's fifth-consecutive profitable quarter. This compares with second-quarter revenues of $6.2 million, and net income of $1.2 million. Revenues grew more than 40 percent compared to revenues for the same quarter last year. Convergys, a global provider of integrated billing and customer care services, announced its financial results for third-quarter 2004. Total revenues increased 12 percent to $639.9 million, compared to $570.7 million reported in third-quarter 2003. Net income was $30.1 million or $0.21 per diluted share compared with $45.5 million or $0.31 in the third quarter of 2003. Dendrite International announced its earnings growth and financial results. The pharma CRM specialist reported a third-quarter 2004 GAAP diluted earnings of $0.18 per share, up 53 percent compared to GAAP diluted earnings of $0.12 per share for the third quarter of 2003. Revenues for the third quarter were $99.4 million, an increase of 7 percent from the same period of the prior year. International operations for the company increased 44 percent. Interactive Intelligence, a global provider of business communications software, reported revenues of $13.4 million for third-quarter 2004. This was an 11 percent increase over revenues of $12.1 million reported for third quarter 2003. The company reported net income of $102,000, or $0.01 per share for third-quarter 2004, which compares to a net loss of $1 million, or $0.07 per share in the same quarter the prior year. For the first nine months of 2004 revenues were $40.8 million, and net income was $526,000, or $0.03 per share. Keynote Systems announced preliminary financial results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year, which ended September 30, 2004. Total revenue for the fourth quarter was $12.1 million, a 13 percent increase compared to the previous quarter. Net income for the same quarter was $1.3 million, or $0.06 per diluted share, compared to a $1.5 million, or $0.07 per diluted share the for the preceding quarter. Total revenue for fiscal year 2004 was $42.4 million, an 11 percent increase from fiscal year 2003. BI software provider MicroStrategy announced its financial results for the third quarter of FY 2004. It reported GAAP earnings of $7.22 per share on a diluted basis. Third-quarter 2004 revenue was $60.6 million, a 42 percent increase over the $42.8 million in revenue reported in third-quarter 2003. Revenue in the second quarter of 2004 was $49.9 million. Third-quarter 2004 license revenue also increased more than 40 percent, $25.8 million versus $17.7 million in the third-quarter of 2003 (the highest quarterly license-revenue amount since the third quarter of 2000. The company attributes this growth "to closing multiple transactions with license revenues in excess of a million dollars during the quarter." License revenue in the second quarter of 2004 was $18.3 million. Revenue from services increased 38 percent in the third -quarter of 2004 over the third quarter of 2003. PeopleSoft announced its third-quarter 2004 results. The company reported license revenue of $161 million, a 24 percent increase over the second quarter of 2004. PeopleSoft also reported that total revenue came in at $699 million, which is an increase of 8 percent over the previous quarter, and a company record. Highlighting its momentum the company cited its June release of PeopleSoft Enterprise CRM 8.9, its July win with Mexico SAT (Tax Administration Service)--the largest deal in PeopleSoft history, valued at over $50 million--and its ranking as the "most widely used CRM suite" by AMR Research, according to an AMR survey. SAP also announced its third-quarter financial results for 2004. Operating income was $461 million, a 12 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Software revenues were $491 million, representing a 13 percent increase compared to the third quarter of 2003. Net income was $291 million, or $0.94 per share, representing an increase of 15 percent compared to the third quarter of 2003. Siebel Systems total revenue for the third quarter were $317 million, up 5 percent over the previous quarter of 2004. Maintenance revenues were $118 million, up 3 percent over the second quarter of 2004. Services and other revenues were $94 million, up 3 percent over the second quarter of 2004.
