Viralheat Granted Patents for Sentiment Analysis and Lead Identification Software

Viralheat, a provider of enterprise social media management software, has been granted patents for sentiment analysis [US Patent No. 8631122 B2] and lead identification [US Patent No. 8635227 B2].

Viralheat's newest patents help customer service and sales teams identify support queries and potential sales prospects on social media channels.

"Customers can immediately identify users who are looking to make a purchase or respond to negative and positive comments," said Viralheat Chief Technology Officer and co-founder Vishal Sankhla, in a statement. "We built the sentiment analysis and lead identification technology with the goal of providing our customers with valuable, actionable data to use in their business strategies. These patents validate our hard work and dedication to provide superior, data-backed technology."

The technologies use natural language processing (NLP), a process that computes characteristics of the text to determine sentiment (positive, negative, or neutral) or buyer behavior (purchase intent). Viralheat's unique technology allows users to change the given sentiment or lead identification tag, training the tool to be more accurate over time. Users can sort mentions by sentiment or lead opportunities to quickly access the most important and time-sensitive mentions. Lead opportunities can also be exported from Viralheat and imported into a CRM system, such as Salesforce.com.

The sentiment analysis and lead identification technologies are available on all enterprise plans. Viralheat also offers free and paid versions of its sentiment API for developers to use within their own applications.
