Onyx Appoints New Marketing Chief

CRM vendor Onyx Software Corp. has appointed Ben Kiker as its senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Kiker will lead the company's global marketing team, and will be responsible for Onyx's marketing strategy, including product management and marketing, corporate marketing, demand generation, public and analyst relations, and vertical marketing. Kiker's career spans more than 14 years in the enterprise applications industry. Kiker served as vice president of corporate marketing for CRM vendor Clarify Inc. (now owned by Amdocs Ltd.). Before working at Clarify, Kiker served as director of field marketing for CRM vendor Vantive Corp. Prior to Vantive, Kiker served as director of brand marketing for Octel Communications, a provider of voice messaging products and services. Kiker replaces interim marketing vice president Bill Bunker, who has been named vice president of Onyx's financial services vertical market. A five-year Onyx veteran, Bunker will now lead Onyx's financial services vertical market and continue to serve on Onyx's executive management team. He will be responsible for all financial services activities at Onyx including sales, business development, alliance development, and product management. Before joining Onyx, Bunker worked for Apple Computer Inc., International Finance Corp., and Booz Allen & Hamilton.   • NetLedger, Inc., developer of Oracle Small Business Suite, has hired Zach Nelson to help lead the company as president and chief operating officer. Nelson's 20 years in high-tech marketing, sales, and business strategy includes helping transform McAfee Associates into Network Associates (NAI), a $772 million provider of network security and management solutions. Prior to Network Associates, Nelson was vice president or world wide marketing at Oracle Corp., where he was responsible for defining global marketing strategy and implementation.
  • Intellexis plc, a provider of financial and business skills learning solutions, has appointed Ken Scott as chief executive officer. Scott, who is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, has served as managing director of MG Capital plc and chief executive of Hamptons Estate Agents and has held senior positions at HSBC and Avco Trust plc. Scott is a graduate of Harvard Business School and holds a Diploma in Business Studies from Insead. Former Chief Executive Paul Palmarozza takes on the role of president and will focus on developing the company's global distribution network and building strategic alliances.
  • Dana Hayman has joined marketing and billing solutions company Epsilon in the newly created position of vice president, CRM strategy and planning. Hayman will be responsible for counseling Epsilon's clients and client teams on data analysis design and interpretation, marketing and database marketing strategy, investment allocation, and account planning. Hayman joins Epsilon having built CRM and database marketing infrastructures for two high-profile business ventures, including furniture e-tailer living.com. Prior to this Hayman served as vice president, strategic business analysis for Targetbase Marketing.
  • Applix, Inc. , a global provider of enterprise-wide interactive planning, analytics, and CRM solutions, has appointed of Howard Spielman, Ph.D., as vice president of business intelligence technology. Spielman will be responsible for the strategic direction and tactical implementation of business intelligence applications. Spielman has more than 20 years industry experience. Prior to joining Applix, he served as a business intelligence consultant in a variety of industries, including agribusiness, banking & finance, consumer packaged goods, healthcare, insurance, and pharmaceuticals. Before working as a consultant, Spielman managed Worldwide Quality Assurance and Decision Support Systems and Decision Support Systems Advanced Development for Digital Equipment Corporation. Spielman holds a B.S. in Biology and Philosophy and an M.A. in Science Curriculum, and has conducted research at the Sloan Kettering Institute for Cancer Research and Harvard University's Biological Laboratories. He also holds an MBA and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Administration and Computer Graphics.
