CUSTOMER WINS Amdocs has announced that
Elisa, a Finnish provider of telecommunications services and solutions, has selected Amdocs 6 to replace its existing billing, CRM, and ordering systems with one platform. Amdocs also will take on the role of system integrator. DefenseWeb Technologies, a software developer and systems integrator serving Department of Defense organizations, has announced that the company has won a contract to provide the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) with marketing and product launch support services for the USAR's Family Program Web Portal. The company, which built applications currently used by the Army, Navy, and Air Force, will develop a marketing plan for the USAR Family Programs Office, develop and distribute press releases with the USAR Public Affairs Office, and support media outreach efforts. IN THE NEWS Onset Technology, a developer of emergency communications software for wireless handheld devices, has opened a Washington, D.C., office to enhance the sales and support of METAmessage Emergency Communications solutions for the BlackBerry wireless platform from RIM and other wireless devices. The solutions feature automatic PIN-address updating, PIN-to-PIN archiving, message blasts, custom message alerts, and handheld document storage. PacificNet, a provider of value-added telecom services in China, has announced its plans to acquire a 51 percent controlling interest in Guangzhou 3G, a value-added telecom and information-services provider in China with IVR capabilities. The purchase price for 51 percent controlling interest is approximately $5.5 million. The acquisition is expected to be immediately accretive to PacificNet's earnings. Guangzhou 3G will become a majority-owned subsidiary of PacificNet, and PacificNet expects to consolidate its results for financial reporting purposes, according to the company. NEW PRODUCTS QlikTech, a BI solutions provider, has partnered with DMSi Software, a business-management solutions provider for lumber wholesalers and building material distributors, to introduce BInformed, a BI tool for the building material industry. The application, driven by QlikTech's QlikView, is designed strictly for customers of DMSi Software's Agility product, a Windows-based solution for building-material distributors and lumber wholesalers. ON THE MOVE Jay O'Connor has joined NetSuite as its vice president of worldwide marketing. O'Connor's previous experience includes serving as vice president of marketing and product management at CaseCentral, vice president of marketing at Inzap, and vice president of marketing at PlanetRx.
