Go North: GoldMine Resellers Unite

Core Solutions, one of the top-20 resellers of GoldMine, announced today that it will buy substantially all the assets of Computer Control, one of the largest GoldMine resellers in the North East, for an undisclosed price. The acquisition, expected to close early in 2007, will double the size of Core Solutions' business. Computer Control will operate as a separate division of Core Solutions and will retain its name. "Since Computer Control has a similar business model to ours and works with similar products, there is a real synergy between the two organizations. This acquisition provides an easy way for us to grow rapidly and strengthen our position in New England," says Scott Weiss, president and founder of Core Solutions. "It will also benefit our clients by allowing us to expand our training to include Computer Control's strong Web-based training." "We've been friendly competitors several years," Weiss says. "This allows us to grow and deliver more services to our customers. We provide a high level of consulting services, which requires a high level of expertise. It's hard to find and grow the right people unless you're of a certain size." Joel Scott, Computer Control's founder, will remain with the company, "We're excited to add Joel to our management team," Weiss says. "His depth in the field will be very valuable to our clients and to us as we expand." "In our case having a healthy channel partner is good news for us," says Paul Petersen, senior director of the CRM division at FrontRange Solutions, maker of GoldMine. "The small to midsize enterprise market relies on local service. Anything they can do to strengthen the company is good for us." Weiss expects a strong year for the combined company in 2007 as companies increase their IT spending and focus, thanks in part to the upcoming launch of Windows Vista. "IT spending was down for a while, now it's started to tick back up," Weiss says. "Our industry has matured; clients know more about what they want. They want more sophisticated services."
