IN THE NEWS Cognos has announced an OEM agreement with
IBM. Cognos will embed IBM middleware into a special edition of Cognos ReportNet. The solution, Cognos ReportNet IBM Special Edition, which is based on open standards, including JAVA, SOAP, SQL, and XML, will come with an embedded version of Websphere as its application server and DB2 UDB as ReportNet's content store. E.piphany has announced its fourth quarter and end-of-year results for 2004. The company reported fourth-quarter revenues of $20.7 million, a 24.2 percent decrease from its 2003 fourth quarter revenues of $27.3 million. Net loss under GAAP for the quarter was $2 million, or 3 cents per share, compared to net income under GAAP of $413,000, or 1 cent per share for the fourth quarter of 2003. For 2004 the company reported revenues of $79.3 million, compared to revenues of $96.1 million in 2003. Net loss under GAAP for the year was $14.2 million, or 19 cents per share, compared to a net loss under GAAP of $24.2 million, or 33 cents per share, for 2003. SAS has announced that its total revenue for 2004 reached $1.53 billion, with a 15 percent increase in annual revenue over 2003. Activity-based management, activity-based costing, and performance management, increased by more than a third over 2003. IT-management applications revenue increased by nearly 30 percent and risk management applications increased by 20 percent. Advanced analytics and data management grew by more than 20 percent in revenue. Centra Software, an online business-collaboration solutions provider, reported fourth quarter revenues of $10.5 million, up 8 percent from $9.7 million in the third quarter of 2004. Its net loss for the fourth quarter was $1.3 million, or 5 cents per share. Revenues for 2004 were $38.1 million, down 11 percent from $43 million reported in 2003. Net loss for 2004 was $11.1 million, or 41 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $7.9 million, or 30 cents per share in 2003. NEW PRODUCTS FrontRange Solutions has announced the availability of its modular IT Service Management (ITSM) solution, including incident management, change management, problem management, release management, availability management, configuration management, and service level management. The Sarbanes Oxley-compliant suite also includes real-time reporting to provide real-time data via a graphical dashboard. The solution, built on the .NET platform and created to meet Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) standards, recently received consulting and training firm Pink Elephant's PinkVerify Certification. Teradata has shipped Teradata Warehouse 8.0, a warehousing solution that provides businesses with BI to boost revenue, cut expenses, and identify new growth opportunities. Partners including Ascential, Business Objects, Cognos, SAS, and Siebel Systems, have tested and validated that their software is compatible with Teradata's newest version of Warehouse.
