SAP today unveiled a new addition to its library of applications on the EPM Unwired mobile app, the SAP Business Planning and Consolidation 10.0 app. The app lets users work with financial planning and analysis data on a mobile device, as well as insert new information. It is part of a series of mobile offerings that SAP has announced over the past year in business intelligence, cloud-based enterprise performance management, governance, risk and compliance, and applied analytics. "We're seeing a huge interest from our customers in being able to do real-time analytics while they're on the go," notes Mimi Spier, senior director of marketing and mobile analytics at SAP. "According to Gartner, by 2020, seventy-five percent of executives will be using analytics on a mobile device, and we see [mobile analytics] as a huge priority and opportunity." With the Business and Consolidation app, which works on iOS and Android platforms, executives can manage, monitor, and update their reports in real time. Through the EPM Unwired mobile app, users also get the collaboration, annotation, and visualization features available on SAP's other BusinessObjects mobile apps.
SAP will continue to invest heavily in mobile analytics, according to Spier. Looking ahead, the Germany-based software giant plans to add more features that will enable users to manage and share their content on mobile devices, in addition to delivering industry-specific mobile solutions, she adds. "We believe you have to think 'mobile first' in every app you create now," Spier says. "We want to give people the flexibility to leverage the value of analytics on a daily basis, wherever they are."
