CRM in Action: Low-Cost Data Analysis
The Challenge: Gather information from ERP systems and transfer it into a usable form without printing reports.
The Solution: Employees of FiberMark, which produces fiber-based materials like specialty paper and other nonwoven articles used in everything from construction and renovation to office and medical supplies to electronics, were relying on disparate ERP systems to gather information. This was leaving them without any means to view the data other than in print. To resolve the situation FiberMark implemented QlikTech's QlikView, a tool for compilation, analysis, and presentation of data extracted from one or many sources. Users can view results on their own computers. "QlikTech came in and set up a sales application against our J.D. Edwards data in seven hours," says Joel Taylor, FiberMark's director of information systems. "This is remarkable, because the fellow doing the work had never worked with J.D. Edwards or its dictionary." Taylor was also impressed by QlikView's ability to integrate with FiberMark's existing systems.
The Payoff: According to Taylor, not only has FiberMark reduced the cost of printing paper and ink cartridges by eliminating printed sales reports, but the reduction in sales reports also has resulted in a major reduction in system costs.
