IN THE NEWS Autonomy has agreed to buy fellow search technology developer Verity in a cash deal totaling around $500 million. Autonomy CEO Mike Lynch says the acquisition as a transformational deal for Autonomy that will give the combined companies a base of 16,000 customers. The deal also brings England-based Autonomy a U.S. outpost in Verity's Sunnyvale, California, headquarters. Autonomy agreed to pay $13.50 per Verity share, a 30 percent premium on Verity's Thursday closing price of $10.37, on the Nasdaq exchange. Netsuite and Five9 have announced a partnership that they will phone-enable NetSuite applications through a new feature called Click to Call via direct integration. Click to Call will let NetSuite customers to make phone calls from within a NetSuite application while taking advantage of the same low worldwide long-distance rates already granted to Five9 customers. Supporting both PSTN and VoIP phones, Click to Call also makes it possible for NetSuite users to dial phone numbers appearing anywhere in their CRM and ERP applications. Hitachi announced the formation of the Hitachi Global Solutions Center in India, which began operations on November 1. The Hitachi GSC was formed in alliance with Intelligroup and Satyam Computer Services. The center will serve as a backbone for Hitachi group companies' global development and sourcing capabilities, helping provide customers with cost-effective IT solutions. SafeHarbor Technology has formed two new partnerships, with Knova and ATG The partnerships are designed to enable ATG and Knova clients to leverage SafeHarbor's professional service expertise in customer experience assessments, content management process review, and alignment of other related business processes. Business Objects has closed the acquisition of privately held Infommersion, a provider of interactive visual analytics. The acquisition provides Business Objects with visual analytic capabilities and was a cash transaction of approximately $40 million.
NEW PRODUCTS Maximizer Software is now shipping Maximizer Enterprise 9. The new release incorporates business intelligence and process management improvements for managers, productivity enhancements for sales, marketing, and customer service and support staff, including administration and security enhancements. It also includes two-way synchronization with Microsoft Outlook and Exchange, improved deployment options with a consistent interface between Web and Windows, and support for the handheld devices including Pam, Treo, BlackBerry, and Pocket PC. Perseus Development has expanded its SurveySolutions/EFM product line to ensure the effective delivery of customer feedback solutions for workgroups, departments, and global enterprises. All three configurations of SurveySolutions/EFM also will provide increased support for Sarbanes-Oxley and other corporate and legal mandates. Nsite announced the availability of Version 5.0, which includes Nsite Channel Management and Nsite Quote Management, a pair of sales-centric applications for SMBs. Version 5 also includes a new Web Services Builder feature that leverages Asynchronous JavaScript Technology and XML and also includes instant connections for Salesforce.com and Siebel CRM OnDemand.
