Acquisition, Funding Round to Help Cloud Sherpas Grow
Cloud service brokerage aims for greater density in strategic markets, deeper alignment with existing partners, and expansion into new technology categories.

Cloud Sherpas raised $40 million in investment funding to help it execute its aggressive international growth plans for 2013 and beyond.    

Cloud Sherpas' decision to raise additional capital at this time is in response to accelerating adoption of cloud technology by enterprises. The new funds will allow Cloud Sherpas to better serve existing and prospective customers who are rapidly increasing their use of cloud services and are anxious to move off legacy on-premises systems.  The new capital will also be used by Cloud Sherpas to grow its presence in key geographic regions, extend partnerships with Google and salesforce.com, and expand into emerging technology categories.

 "We're entering the next phase in the evolution of enterprise cloud services," said David Northington, CEO of Cloud Sherpas, in a statement.  "Cloud is everywhere now, and our clients want to know how they can leverage it to innovate, gain market share, stay more connected with customers, and ultimately stay one step ahead of the competition.

"Cloud applications are implemented with more flexibility and with less risk, and allow for more focus on business and process innovation," Northington continued. "Cloud Sherpas is helping businesses around the globe aggregate multiple cloud services, integrate them with in-house apps, and customize them to meet their unique needs. This new investment will allow us to help our clients realize all that is possible with the cloud."

At the same time that the funding round was going on, Cloud Sherpas acquired CloudTrigger, a cloud solution consultancy focused on helping organizations implement and customize CRM solutions in the cloud. Terms of the deal were not announced. The move provides Cloud Sherpas with the strategic and technical resources necessary to further capitalize on cloud CRM implementation and customization opportunities in North America and abroad. 

CloudTrigger, headquartered in Southern California, has clients worldwide, including AOL, USA Today, and Riverbed. The firm has deep implementation expertise in Salesforce Service Cloud, and is the creator of G2Maps, a geographic mapping analytics and visualization app available on the Salesforce AppExchange. The acquisition strengthens Cloud Sherpas' position in the West, bolsters its ability to service clients needing customer service and call center support, and provides key assets to enable vertical market solutions.
