GoDaddy Launches Get Found to Help SMBs Boost Sales
GoDaddy's Get Found solution will keep SMBs' contact information up to date.

Website hosting company and domain registrar GoDaddy has introduced Get Found, a solution designed to help small businesses keep their contact information and business details up to date in search engine results as well as across social networks. The solution was designed by Locu, a start-up GoDaddy acquired in August 2013 for $70 million, and is GoDaddy’s first major move into the discovery marketing space.

"Every year, small businesses lose up to $10 billion in potential sales because their phone numbers are wrong, or the link to their Web site isn’t working," GoDaddy Vice President and General Manager of Discovery Marketing Products Rene Reinsberg says. "Research suggests that consumers are looking at approximately 2.5 sources before making a decision about where to take their business. They’re searching for and finding new companies, and small businesses won't be able to compete if they don't take advantage of this discovery process."

Get Found provides its users with a scanner tool that captures how their businesses appear in search results and other discovery methods to pinpoint any inconsistencies, enabling users to then update and streamline all of the information. To develop the streamlined content, Get Found takes in users' unstructured data and content in any submitted format—that  includes PDFs, text, or image files—and returns a structured document that can be used to populate various online sources.  Thanks to direct integrations  and API partnerships, Get Found can populate Google, Yahoo, Bing, Yelp, Foursquare, YP (Yellowpages), Citysearch, TripAdvisor, OpenTable, Local.com, Judy’s Book, MerchantCircle, and MojoPages with uniform content.

"A restaurant could have one version on their menu up on Yelp but a totally different version on OpenTable, and that's just unacceptable for customers," according to Reinsberg. "By keeping photos, menus, and listings current, businesses can leverage content they already have to bring in business that they would otherwise lose. Plus, because Get Found allows users to publish content in real time, users can drive business during slow times by, for example, pushing out photos to draw in customers," he explains.

Get Found's initial customers have been pleased with the solution's ease of use.

"People tell me all the time they found our restaurant on Yelp, TripAdvisor, or OpenTable. In a place like Hilton Head, competition is fierce, and wrong business information could be the difference in a successful night and a flop," Lauren Cirafesi, owner and partner of Ombra Cucina Rustica, said in a statement. "With Get Found, I can also easily change my hours for holidays or special events and whenever we have a restaurant special, so I never miss out on a potential customer."

Though the Get Found product was launched today, it's expected to get a wider introduction as the subject of GoDaddy's new Super Bowl commercial with Danica Patrick. A veteran of the Super Bowl commercial line-up, GoDaddy has secured a spot in the second half of the big game on Sunday.
