Onyx Lands Local e-Government Deal in UK

Onyx Software has partnered with UK-based consultancy provider Deloitte & Touche to develop a public sector CRM solution for the London Borough of Brent, the company announced today.

The Bellevue, Wash.-based CRM solutions provider will supply a system to power Brent's "E-Shop" Pathfinder project, one of 25 such projects financed by the UK Department for Transport, Local Government and the Regions. The project is part of an initiative to provide the public with complete electronic access to local government materials by 2005.

If successful, Brent's implementation will establish a generic e-government CRM configuration that can later be adopted by other local councils. Brent was chosen as one of the Pathfinder communities because of its successful history in establishing one-stop shops and running a call center, Onyx said.

"This is an exciting project, because it will radically alter the way councils interact with the public," said John Hayes, director of public sector services at Deloitte & Touche. "A network of one-stop-shop council offices and a state-of-the-art call center along with the CRM system will promote the government's vision of a modern joined-up service."
