SAP Announces Cloud Identity Access Governance

SAP today announced SAP Cloud Identity Access Governance, a new range of governance, risk, and compliance cloud services. The new features are the first in a planned range of services intended to address the growing demand for identity-as-a-service (IDaaS) solutions.

Speaking to CRM Magazine via email, Chris Radkowski, director of solution management at SAP Labs, describes IDaaS as "a set of identity and governance services available via multitenant platform." He adds that these services "are being developed to automate user administration, governance, and on-/off-boarding for [on-premises] and cloud business applications."

SAP Cloud Identity Access Governance is designed to assist organizations in managing identities and optimizing compliance processes. Each of the solution's services works independently or in combination, allowing businesses to extend and manage their identities according to their growth and needs.

"The key features will eventually be a complete set of identity services that are independent and interoperable to support provisioning and governance features for business applications," Radkowski says.

The new solution will integrate with SAP's existing HANA Cloud Platform, which enables secure single-sign-on functionality and accessibility on any device. Together, the two platforms look to simplify the management of identities for both cloud-based and on-premises systems.

"[SAP Cloud Identity Access Governance] is built on the HANA Cloud Platform and takes advantages of performance and connectivity capabilities," Radkowski says via email. "With the HANA Cloud Platform, we get continuous event-based access analysis on every identity change and native connectivity with [solutions such as] Concur, Ariba, [and] Fieldglass."

SAP Cloud Identity Access Governance also aims to provide companies with the necessary intelligence to optimize their user system assignments in accordance with compliance policies, as well as to avoid access issues. Furthermore, the solution will enable businesses to refine or remove incorrect or unused user roles.
