When Merced Systems, a call center reporting software firm, decided it was time to add a CRM system to the business, it turned to Siebel Systems, a firm it knew well. Merced has done business with Siebel, and trusts its products.
"We liked the fact that they have a number of different product functions in several areas, so as we grow we will have more than just a sales automation tool," says Mark Selcow, president of Merced. The company went with Siebel OnDemand, the new hosted version of Siebel's CRM suite, to meet the needs of its rapidly growing sales force.
"We wanted to build the right foundation for sales and customer support," Selcow says, noting that previously the company managed all sales and support functionality manually through spreadsheets. "This was the best way to go for us due to the great scalability of the product, since we have no idea how many customers we are going to have in the future."
Selcow says that his company had no hesitations when it came to selecting a hosted CRM solution. "As a developer of Web applications, we were always comfortable with a hosted model," he says.
The OnDemand product was simple to implement and easy to use, Selcow says, and he notes that an additional plus is the embedded analytics functions found in the product. Merced is currently using the product for sales and support, but Selcow predicts the company will be using more functionality as it continues to grow: "Siebel did a good job out of the gate with the first version of the OnDemand product. We are only scratching the surface of what we can do with it."
Siebel CRM OnDemand, the company's latest CRM release built in partnership with IBM, is a full service CRM suite that can be deployed in either a hosted or on-site version. According to Siebel, CRM OnDemand offers companies sales, service, and built-in analytics functionalities at a much lower cost than with a traditional CRM implementation: $70 per month, per user.
