When general contractor Furst Construction decided to allow its salespeople to access information remotely, the priority was to find software compatible with its existing systems. So shifting from Best Software's ACT! for Windows contact management software to its new ACT! for Web made complete sense, says Furst's Director of Marketing Jenny Kofoed. "We have been using ACT! for Windows for about two years," Kofoed says. "So when we decided to begin to expand our staff and their ability to work remotely, this was the obvious first choice." ACT! for Web is sold on a per-user basis; companies host the software on their own Web server. The online version is fully compatible with existing versions of ACT! and mirrors the ACT! for Windows user interface. Users can simply transfer predefined data fields, instead of having to re-create them. ACT! for Web offers 255 fields for customer information as well as different levels of access for selected users or workgroups. System administrators can also restrict access by time, by person, or both.
According to Kofoed it only took two weeks to get the Web version implemented and running smoothly. "We had excellent support via phone, email, and in person," Kofoed says."Best provided a lot of different avenues for us to ask questions and get the support we needed." With its database growing rapidly since Furst installed ACT! for Web at the beginning of the year, Kofoed says that the sales team's productivity has nearly doubled. www.act.com
