Online CRM software analysis publication SellMoreNow.com announced its annual Willy awards for the year 2001 today, which recognize CRM solutions that help sales people better serve their customers and achieve sales goals.

"Putting a CRM system to work is not an option these days, it is an essential requirement for business survival," says Rich Bohn, executive editor of SellMoreNow.com. The Willy awards give shoppers a good starting point so that they can make a purchase decision and start taking better care of customers, adds Bohn.

The majority of the awards went to relative newcomers in the CRM space, but the big players were there too, with better-established solutions providers Pivotal and YOUcentric earning Best Fully Integrated CRM Solution and Best Enterprise CRM Solution, respectively.

The awards, inspired by a line near the end of Arthur Miller's play, Death of a Salesman, ("A salesman is got to dream, boy."), are divided into three main categories: the "strategic" solutions, which track accounts, contacts, sales opportunities and other vital customer information; the "tactical" solutions, which help sales people solve specific problems when taking care of their customers; Best Use of the Internet to Improve Sales & Marketing; and Best Management Book.

The Willy awards are based on software products that made it through SellMoreNow.com's rigorous review process in the last 12 months. These products are proven shipping solutions that can be installed quickly to get the job done. Following are the Willy 2001 awards:
