StayinFront Takes a Leap Forward

CRM vendor StayinFront today released version 10 of its enterprise suite. The new release includes several new features to enhance the broad range of decision support tools, data services, sample inventory management solutions, and e-commerce systems built on the Microsoft .NET platform included in earlier iterations. StayinFront CRM 10's main hook is the updated user interface, tweaked by the vendor to be easier to learn, customize, and navigate. Its appearance has been refreshed to be more contemporary and, StayinFront hopes, easier to adopt. Optimized to make best use of reduced-size screens of handheld and other wireless devices, StayinFront CRM 10 lets important tasks be performed with a minimum of input. StayinFront says that its data replication and remote management technology will allow users to work with data even when they are not connected to a network. As a .NET framework-based application, StayinFront CRM 10 runs as a managed application using Microsoft's Common Language Runtime (CLR), improving resource management, administration and deployment options, and security on Windows computers. Additionally, Visual Basic.NET is built into StayinFront CRM 10 for executing business application logic, providing access to the Microsoft Solutions Framework for extensibility and integration. The new release is a Smart Client product, providing the reduced-infrastructure benefits of a Web-based application while still providing the look and feel of a desktop solution. StayinFront CRM 10 can be deployed across a WAN or the Internet using Microsoft's "ClickOnce" deployment mechanism. This makes StayinFront able to function as an enterprisewide, regional, or business unit-level solution. Organizations can create the business model and application logic once and gain the flexibility to deploy the solution across multiple platforms, including LANs, WANs, Tablet PCs, and mobile devices, according to the company. Built-in mobility is one of the chief benefits of StayinFront CRM 10, according to William Clark, research vice president with Gartner. "The proliferation of mobile devices and smart devices has necessitated that organizations take a multichannel approach for business applications that relies on reuse of intelligent clients," Clark said in a written statement. His contention is that enterprises would use their resources most efficiently this way "rather than in recoding projects that require them to hire I.T. specialists or contract professional organizations."
