Seybold Expansion into India Premature

A recently published article in the Financial Times stating that Boston-based CRM consultancy The Patricia Seybold Group is expanding into the Indian market is premature, according to Stephan Wands, senior marketing manager for PSG. The report stated that Patricia Seybold, chief exsecutive of the company, said the firm would start its operations in the country in association with Innovative Media, a Bangalore-based knowledge management company. According to the publish report, Seybold also said that customer scenario mapping and the customer flight deck - two CRM related tools developed by PSG, are two methods the company planned to transfer to Indian professionals. "We are looking at the India market and Patty is very excited about it," says Wands. "But we have no formal plans at this time. Patty just returned from India this week and we haven't even discussed plans internally." The confusion might stem from a trip this week to India by Seybold, who held a one-day seminar in Mumbai for 200 managers and executives from some of India's leading businesses, Wands says. While in India, Seybold also spoke at a CEO dinner that was sponsored by Sun Microsystems Inc., AT&T, Oracle Corp., and Innovative Media. "She definitely came away thinking it's a great market, but to say that we have any formal plans to expand into India is very premature," Wands added.
