Companies may have been slowing things down over the past month as holiday shopping and spending dominated the lion's share of business coverage, but there have been a few announcements, partnerships, and other news that has flown below the radar. In this postholiday wrap-up, we present news you might have missed.

FieldCentrix Inc. recently announced a certified interface between its software and software from J.D. Edwards & Co. Using XPI (eXtended Process Integration), the interface bridges FieldCentrix' enterprise field service automation software with J.D. Edward's CRM solution. The interface is designed to combine the two software packages and target mid-market to mid-cap customers.

Net6, a San Jose--based company that is a network-based application-transformation gateway provider, has created an application designed to provide screen-based applications for IP telephones created by Avaya Inc., a company that designs, creates, and maintains communications networks for Fortune 500 companies worldwide. Net6's Telephony Transformation Gateway is designed to allows Avaya's 4620 and 4630 IP screen telephones be used to enhance customer satisfaction and increase the accuracy of data entry.

Iomega Corp., a producer of computer storage devices, recently signed The Televista Company to a contract where the Dallas-based customer service provider will handle the company's technical support. Televista, a company with contact centers in the United States and Mexico, signed the deal for 12 months, with the possibility for two 12-month extensions. Televista has agreed to provide Iomega with inbound technical support through both Internet chat and email channels.

The Rochester Group recently introduced its customer software solution called Sales Territory Configurator (STC). Designed to assist companies in the often-painful process of sales territory realignment, STC reportedly allows users to analyze what-if scenarios before implementation to examine how resources would have to be reallocated.

ChoicePoint just announced its acquisition of National Data Retrieval Inc, a company that specializes in providing public-records information for bankruptcies, civil judgments, and both federal and state tax liens. ChoicePoint, a company that provides identification and credential verification services for businesses, government agencies and individuals, appears to be bolstering its presence in governmental information services with this move. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
