In the news... Law firm Weiss & Yourman announced that a class action lawsuit has been filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California entitled Santos v. Salesforce.com on behalf of individuals who acquired the securities of Salesforce.com between June 21, 2004 and July 21, 2004. The company went public on June 21, 2004, with its price increased to $17.20 from the offering price of $11.00 per share. The complaint alleges that Salesforce.com violated the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 by making false and misleading statements to the investing public regarding its business and prospects, causing the stock price to trade at artificially inflated levels. At the same time the company sold off more than $117 million worth of personal shares. A new report released by INPUT, a provider of government market intelligence, predicts that the federal market for telecommunications products and services will grow from $15.2 billion in FY2004 to almost $21 billion in FY2009. The growth will be led by a more than 40 percent growth in telecommunications spending by the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense. The report, "Federal Telecommunications MarketView," expects telecommunications spending at the Department of Homeland Security to increase by 50 percent, from more than $800 million in FY 2004 to $1.2 billion in FY 2009, and wireless spending to grow at a compound annual rate of 12.5 percent (from $1.4 billion in FY2004 to $2.5 billion in FY2009). Dendrite International announced the results of its second quarter, reporting second quarter 2004 GAAP diluted earnings of $0.17 per share, up 17 percent compared to GAAP diluted earnings of $0.14 per share for the second quarter of 2003. Revenues for the quarter increased to $99.9 million, up 44 percent from the same period of 2003. GAAP operating margins grew from 9.9 percent in the first quarter to 11.6 percent in the second quarter, and adjusted operating margins reached 12.8 percent in the second quarter versus 11.0 percent in the first quarter.
Mercury Interactive Corporation and Siebel Systems have made public a development agreement to design and build test automation interfaces between Siebel 7.7 and Mercury's BTO offerings. The two companies also validated the integration of Mercury QuickTest Professional and Mercury LoadRunner for the Siebel Test Automation Interfaces for Siebel 7.7. ServiceWare Technologies announced the results of operations for the second quarter, ended June 30, 2004. The company reported its revenue for the second quarter as $3.9 million, versus $3.1 million for the second quarter of 2003. Net income for the quarter was $163,000, compared to a net loss of $369,000 for the same period in 2003. The company's cash and investments balance for the quarter was $7.5 million. Concerto Software announced that it has acquired all assets and certain liabilities of Positive Software Systems (PSS). PSS is formerly a Concerto Software Technology Alliance Partner, as well as the creator of ECM, a private-label customer interaction data warehouse product that was exclusively sold and supported by Concerto Software. Soffront Software recently announced that it has acquired Silicon Valley CRM, a CRM reseller specializing in software installations for small and midsize organizations. Terms of the acquisition have not yet been disclosed, but the initiative will increase the customer base of Soffront by more than 100 companies. New products... KnowledgeBase Solutions announced its status as a validated Technology Alliance Partner with Remedy, a BMC Software business unit. Under the partnership users of Remedy's Action Request System will have integrated access to KnowledgeBase.net Enterprise Edition. The integration will allow agents to search and find answers from the knowledgebase by clicking a tab in the Remedy Help Desk application, eliminating the need for manual data entry to generate a search. Atlas OnePoint (formerly GO TOAST), introduced a new-user interface that features streamlined navigation, and fewer, enhanced on-screen paths. The interface also includes drop-down menus to facilitate page movement, as well as the ability to view data via ProfitBuilder ROI Conversion tracking reports. Customers can use a change-listing button to insert new titles, descriptions, or tracking URLs if a given listing is not performing well. Pivotal Veracity, launched the eDelivery Tracker for B2B, a new delivery optimization solution for B2B marketers. The solution enables users to identify whether their emails are reaching the inbox, being redirected to bulk/quarantine folders, or are being deleted. Tell-Eureka launched the LevelOne Video Agent and the LevelOne Broadband Agent, two new self-service products that automate phone-based support for cable and broadband service providers. The LevelOne Video Agent is designed to identify and troubleshoot issues for video service subscribers like poor picture quality, missing channels, sound and volume problems, and Video On Demand or Pay per View issues. The LevelOne Broadband Agent targets the resolution of PC, cable modem, home network, cabling, and Windows and Macintosh software settings issues. Edify Corporation introduced Edify Voice Interaction Platform (EVIP) 9.0, a comprehensive voice system that builds, executes, and manages speech applications. EVIP 9.0 supports enterprise requirements to integrate standards and technologies like VoIP, Session Initiation Protocol, VoiceXML, and SALT. The solution also enables organizations to automate transactions such as customer inquiries, product support questions, checking account balances, and proactive outbound notification. Vecta Software Corporation released version 6 of its flagship VECTA software. VECTA 6 includes a new customizable user interface; enhanced charts; a MyHome feature that provides a comprehensive view of company-wide sales, customer, and product information; MySales, for a dashboard view of all sales information related to given customers or products; MyCampaigns, to notify sales people of the campaigns and promotions targeted at customers; and MyDiary and MyContacts features.
