ORLANDO, FLA.—Today, SAP announced the general availability of SAP Business Suite powered by HANA, promising users real-time access to transactional data and analytics through an in-memory platform.
One SAP customer, Home Shopping Europe, is using the SAP 360 CRM solution layered with SAP HANA to predict consumer buying behaviors and to tailor offers, pricing, discounts, and messaging accordingly for a targeted and personalized approach. One of the greatest benefits to HANA users such as HSE is the speed at which business actions can be made through on-the-fly data analysis, SAP claims.
"A lot of complexity in business software was created because we had to compensate for slowness," remarked Jim Hagemann Snabe, co-CEO of SAP, during a keynote presentation here at the SAP SAPPHIRE NOW and ASUG annual conference. "With HANA, we can get rid of the aggregates and the indexes. We can get rid of a lot of the code in the application."
SAP currently has 100 customers using SAP HANA and approximately 10,000 CRM users also tapping into insights from HANA. With more than 25 million users now running SAP solutions, the company announced the revision of several of its line-of-business cloud applications as well.
Building on SAP's recent acquisitions of commerce network Ariba and cloud human capital management company SuccessFactors, the company is now targeting four key enterprise areas: "People," or employees and partners; "Customer," with a transition of SAP Customer OnDemand into SAP Cloud for Customer; "Money," updating SAP Financials OnDemand to SAP Cloud for Financials, and SAP Business ByDesign solutions.
"Today, at SAP, everything is about the cloud," Snabe added. "We are the cloud company for the next generation of cloud, [that which] accelerates your business." The SAP HANA Cloud Platform is being positioned as a way for companies to expand deployments on-premises to include cloud applications and third-party apps that meet the requirements of their particular line of business needs.
