Frost & Sullivan this week announced the winners of its Asia Pacific Technology Awards, which recognize and honor outstanding performance by companies and individuals in the information and communications technology industry across the region for base year 2004. The measurement criteria were based on actual market performance indicators for financial year 2004, including revenue growth, market share and growth in market share, leadership in product innovation, breadth of products and solutions, major customer acquisitions, and business and market strategy. Avaya and RIM plan to extend Avaya secure enterprise communications applications to the BlackBerry platform over wireless LANs using Session Initiation Protocol. This move will enable broad capability between the BlackBerry 7270 and Avaya's IP-enabled communications solutions. Enterprises will be able to increase productivity by reducing decision-cycle time, and improve customer service by making personnel more readily available, according to Avaya.
Walt Terry, senior manager of international news business circulation at the National Geographic Society, has been named International Direct Marketer of the Year by the Direct Marketing Association. Terry began his career in publishing in 1988. He went on to become business manager for Caribbean Travel and Life, where he was responsible for all circulation, direct mail, accounting, information systems, and office management. He also launched National Geographic's list on the rental market.
Fila is using hosted Web-analytics solutions from Coremetrics to help with its e-commerce functionalities as it targets younger, more style-conscious customers by supporting targeted, profile-based marketing and merchandising campaigns.
TechTarget this week launched a comprehensive suite of management services called TechTarget LeadPRISM. The tools help marketers generate more sales from the same number of leads by applying sophisticated intelligence against the problem of lead prioritization and market more effectively by using action plans that identify recommended next steps based on customer-developed criteria, according to the company.
Jigsaw Data, an online marketplace where people can buy and sell business contact information, is expanding globally with its Version 2.0 of its marketplace and applying its collaborative platform to include corporate information. The new version provides enhanced contact search capabilities for more targeted customer prospecting.

Amit Yoran, an expert in cyber security, has joined database security-solutions provider Guardium's board of directors. Yoran formerly served as the Bush Administration's cyber security chief.
