J.D. Edwards Acquires YOUcentric

J.D. Edwards & Co. has officially completed its acquisition of YOUcentric Inc., a. provider of Java-based CRM software and unveiled its J.D. Edwards CRM v1.0, which will combine YOUcentric's YOUrelate e-business relationship product with J.D. Edwards' OneWorld enterprise software portal.

Under the terms of the deal, Denver-based J.D. Edwards acquired YOUcentric for $80 million in stock and $6 million in cash. The transaction will be accounted for as a purchase and is expected to be accretive to earnings in fiscal 2002.

J.D. Edwards executives say the acquisition will round out the company's collaborative commerce offering adding that at least one-third of YOUcentric's customers have expressed intent to purchase CRM technology by 2003.

"With version 1.0 of J.D. Edwards CRM already generally available, we're enabling our current and future customers to integrate their customers into their business processes with a comprehensive and adaptable customer relationship management software suite," stated Edward McVaney, J.D. Edwards chairman, president and CEO, in a prepared statement. The company says it will roll out v.1.1 of its CRM offering in upcoming weeks and plans to deliver future versions next year.
