Names Laurent Philonenko COO; also industry hires at Accenture, Motorola, Kanisa, Astea, Whisperwire, Astute, ePeople, among others

Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Alcatel, recently said Chief Technology Officer Laurent Philonenko will assume the title of Chief Operating Officer. In his new role Philonenko will oversee the company's day-to-day operations.
As executive vice president and CTO for Genesys, Philonenko has been responsible for the company's technological direction, including engineering, product management, technical support, and program management activities. Previously, he held the senior vice president and general manager position for Genesys' Service Provider Business Unit, serving telecommunications carriers and ASPs.
"Laurent has guided our technology development and brought the company to the forefront of advanced solutions for contact centers," Genesys Chief Executive Ad Nederlof said in a statement. "He also has a stellar track-record in managing internal operations and business development for various units within Genesys, Alcatel, and Digital. By integrating these functions, Laurent will help drive our product innovations to market faster, delivering greater value to our customers while maintaining financially-sound and efficient operations."
Before joining Genesys in 2000, Philonenko was senior vice president of Alcatel's Network Applications Division, where his contributions helped Alcatel's Intelligent Networks business to grow by more than 100 percent in 1999, establishing its current market leadership position. He previously served as vice president of Alcatel's network management business unit, where he helped the related switching division grow six-fold in three years. Prior to Alcatel, Philonenko held sales representative and sales executive positions in the telecommunications industry at Digital, and strategic consulting and systems engineering and programming positions at Consultronique, IBM, and French bank Credit Lyonnais.

Accenture-backed Coherity, a provider of XML-based data management solutions, has appointed former Vicinity Corp. president and chief executive Emerick Woods as its president and chief executive. Joseph Ellsworth, Coherity's founder and chief executive officer from 1999 to 2002, will remain as company's chief technology officer and a member of its board of directors.
Woods, one of Silicon Valley's few African American CEOs, has managed and founded several early stage high-tech companies. During his four years at Vicinity he completed its initial public offering and successfully raised more than $140 million. Prior to joining Vicinity Woods held a variety of general management and executive positions at TuneUp.com, Quarterdeck, Symantec, Central Point, and Microcom. He has also held consulting positions at McKinsey & Company and Booz Allen & Hamilton. Woods holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in computer science from Yale University.
Motorola Inc. named Tom Lynch executive vice president and president of its Personal Communications Sector (PCS). Lynch previously was executive vice president and president of Motorola's Integrated Electronic Systems Sector (IESS). Lynch will report directly to Motorola President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Zafirovski. "Tom has proven to be an exceptional leader who can drive business results and build the trust and respect of those with whom he works," Zafirovski said in a statement.
Prior to being named IESS president in January 2001, Lynch served as corporate vice president and general manager of Satellite and Broadcast Network Systems (SBNS), part of Motorola's Broadband Communications Sector. Before the Motorola and General Instrument (GI) merger in January 2000, Lynch was senior vice president and general manager of SBNS for GI. He was named vice president and general manager of GI's Transmission Network Systems in 1994. Lynch also served as GI's vice president of marketing for distribution systems and as a divisional chief financial officer.
Dell Computer Corp. and Cisco Systems Inc. veteran Paul Connolly has joined customer support provider Kanisa Inc. as its new chief marketing officer. Connolly will manage all marketing strategy, including brand positioning, new market development, product marketing, competitive analysis, pricing and marketing communications. Prior to joining Kanisa, Connolly contributed to Dell's rise from a mail-order PC manufacturer to a leading supplier of PCs and servers, and Cisco's growth from a bridge manufacturer to a leader in Internet infrastructure. Most recently Connolly was vice president of strategic marketing at Sybase, where he was part of the turn-around team that transformed Sybase into a leading player in enterprise integration software.
CRM vendor Astea International named Lynn Ledwith vice president of marketing. Ledwith will be responsible for developing marketing strategy, and for designing and implementing Astea's marketing programs. She also will direct the company's branding, and oversee all product marketing, lead generation, event marketing, as well as public and analyst relations efforts. Ledwith brings more than fourteen years of enterprise software marketing and technology experience to Astea, most recently with Hewlett-Packard Company, Bluestone Software Inc., and Unisys Corporation.
Jim Sink has joined WhisperWire Inc. , a provider of interactive selling systems, as vice president of customer experience. Sink will lead WhisperWire's Customer Experience Organization in proactively addressing customers' business objectives, ensuring successful technical implementations, and increasing end-user adoption.
Previously, Sink was vice president of global services at 724 Solutions. Before its merger with 724 Solutions, Sink worked at TANTAU Software, and before TANTAU, he was with Lotus Development (an IBM Company) where he had general management responsibility for various U.S. and international professional services business units.
CRM software company Mindfabric has hired Al Quinn as senior vice president of worldwide field operations. Quinn will drive Mindfabric's global sales, growth strategies, and operations.
With more than 21 years of software industry experience, Quinn has successfully built worldwide sales organizations for such companies as Critical Path, PeerLogic, and Fujitsu ICL. Most recently, Quinn served as senior vice president of EMEA for Critical Path. He joined Critical Path when the company acquired PeerLogic; his first responsibility was the integration of the two companies worldwide sales force. Prior to that Quinn served as senior vice president for worldwide sales and managing director for PeerLogic UK. He holds a bachelor's degree in accountancy from the University of Glasgow.
Todd Tonucci has been named eCRM vendor Astute Solutions' vice president of professional services. Tonucci will oversee all implementation projects, and will be responsible for the continued success of the company's services group. Tonucci, has been with Astute as a professional services consultant since 1999. Prior to joining Astute he served as senior manager, customer care for CheckFree Corp, and as systems support manager for BISYS Fund Services.
ePeople Inc. , a provider of Web-based collaborative CRM solutions, has appointed Olivier Gachot as vice president of sales. Gachot brings more than 14 years of general management, marketing, and sales experience to the position. He most recently served as senior vice president of international operations at Actuate Corporation, where in four years he grew international operations from less than $100,000 in revenue to a $30 million business.
Prior to Actuate Gachot was chief executive officer of CosmosBay Corporation, a European provider of online financial solutions. He also has served as COO at Decalog Inc., regional vice president at Interleaf Europe, and sales director at Sybase France.
Thirty-year industry veteran and CompuDial founder Dan Brown has joined ICP as executive vice president for new business development. Brown has returned to the industry after a three-year retirement. In this role he will drive sales for the provider of IT products and services. Brown founded CompuDial, a provider of on-line sharing services, in 1969. He migrated the business into microcomputing in 1981, and six years later it became one of the companies that formed Compucom. As executive vice president of sales until 1999, Brown was instrumental in developing the reseller and services organization into a global network.
TeleSpectrum, a provider of customer interaction management solutions, announced that James ("Jim") Wallace has joined the company as senior vice president, long range planning. In this position Wallace will define TeleSpectrum's long-term information technology goals and implement new technology solutions. Wallace has substantial experience in the design, management, and implementation of large-scale, technically complex projects.
Prior to joining TeleSpectrum, Wallace was the acting general manager for IT for Excell Multimedia, a customer care company in the United Kingdom, and a consultant for TelAthena Systems, LLC. In addition, Wallace previously worked at RMH Teleservices, where he was vice president, information technologies. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy, and earned his bachelor's degree from Emerson College and his master's degree from Boston State College.
Dana Love has joined IVR services provider Prosodie Interactive as executive vice president for worldwide messaging sales. Love, formerly vice president and general manager of the Enhanced Services Division of ADC Telecommunications, will lead the sales and marketing efforts of Prosodie Interactive's suite of enhanced communications services. Prior to joining Prosodie Love worked for such telecom firms as GTE (now Genuity) and Radnet.
CRM consultancy ISM Inc. has appointed Steve Pasztor vice president of consulting services. In this role Pasztor will provide strategic CRM guidance to ISM's Fortune 500 clients. Prior to joining ISM, Pasztor served as senior vice president of eLoyalty's southeastern region, where he was responsible for CRM services. He was a member of the senior management team that created eLoyalty, a spin off from Technology Solutions Corp. Before eLoyalty Pasztor spent 17 years with IBM, where he held various field and management positions in sales, marketing, and consulting services. In addition, he served as a senior member of IBM's start-up CRM consulting practice. Pasztor holds a B.S. in information systems management from the University of Maryland.
Professional services firm Braun Consulting has hired William Band as director of the Marketing Solutions Group. Band will lead the firm's dedicated consulting practice focused on helping chief marketing officers maximize the value of their customer franchise. Band is the author of several books on the marketing, including Touchstones - Ten New Ideas Revolutionizing Business and Creating Value for Customers: Designing and Implementing a Total Corporate Strategy. He comes to Braun Consulting from KPMG Consulting, where he was a managing director responsible for CRM strategy. Previously, he was a partner with Accenture; he also founded the Center for Excellence in Customer Satisfaction while with Coopers & Lybrand Consulting Group.
In answer to its recent 30 percent increase in revenue quarter over quarter, Akibia Consulting has promoted of Steve Noone to vice president, consulting services, New England. In his new role Noone will drive growth and revenue for Akibia in the New England region, and will oversee the maintenance of customer and partner relationships.
Since joining the firm in January 2000 Noone has been instrumental in leading and managing consulting engagements with top financial services, life sciences, manufacturing, and technology companies throughout New England.
Formerly a business consulting manager at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting, Noone worked with high technology and manufacturing companies to design and implement core business applications to improve business. Noone holds a MBA from Boston College and a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
