Teradata focuses on financial management through an acquisition; DataFlux launches a blog on data quality; LAS helps companies inspect names; and more.

IN THE NEWS Teradatahas acquired DecisionPoint Software (DPS). During the past two years the companies partnered to optimize the sourcing process, primarily from Oracle Financials. "Market need is driving this acquisition," said Bob Fair, CMO for Teradata, in a written statement. "[It] extends our existing financial management solution by enhancing our ability to speed the implementation of financial warehouses, resulting in improved data quality and greater visibility into financial results at reduced costs." DataFlux has launched a Community of Experts channel on the company's Web site. The industry-focused info service provides resources on topics of interest to the data quality and data integration communications and features an ongoing blog that covers news, trends and developments as well as articles, Webcasts, and white papers. "Data is the lifeblood of every organization, and companies are looking for methods to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability of enterprise data," said Tony Fisher, president and general manager of DataFlux, in a written statement. "We've teamed up with some of the leading experts in data improvement technology and methodologies to provide a resource channel for companies that want to take a principled, informed approach to enterprise data quality." Autonomy announced that the antitrust division of the DOJ and the FTC have granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, applicable to Autonomy's proposed acquisition of Verity. Infinity Info Systems is joining forces with Trexis to offer a broader range of services, including CRM solutions for financial services, life sciences, and publishing. Both companies are top resellers of Sage Software. NEW PRODUCTS LAS announced the availability of LAS NameInspector, a new software to help organizations assess the quality and characteristics of the names in their databases. It provides data hygiene and targeted marketing support. NameInspector discovers areas in the data that may need improvement; identifies errors in data entry, such as mismatched fields; uncovers ambiguous or rare names to determine which ones have the highest possibility of being misspelled; ensures smooth integration with other data-driven systems; and provides distribution data for gender and culture.
Group 1 Software introduced the latest release of its e2 Suite, version 5.2, for e-billing, online account management, and customer care. It expands globalization and open connectivity and strengthens performance and optimization. "As we continue to expand our global presence, our e2 Suite is playing a significant role in filling a wide gap for the need for electronic presentment in [major] languages" including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai, said Alan Slater, president DOC1 Division at Group 1. ON THE MOVE Panorama Software has hired Oudi Antebi as vice president of product marketing and business strategy. CUSTOMER WINS Centive announced that Captaris has gone live on Compel, Centives' automated on-demand sales compensation system. "We selected Compel because of its ability to handle our complex sales compensation plans that encompass our distribution through resellers, OEMS, and other channels," said Eddie Pasatiempo, senior vice president of global sales and field operations for Capataris. The latest release of Centive Compel features integration with salesforce.com to enable sales reps and managers to forecast compensation based on opportunities within the CRM system to provide companies with full automation of the sales lifecycle and to support better forecasting and improved sales performance.
