Adobe Connect 9.2 Makes It Easier to Create and Join Meetings

Adobe Systems has announced the launch of Adobe Connect 9.2, which offers streamlined experiences for new hosts and new attendees of conferences. Adobe also improved its Webcam options, introducing a filmstrip view of the video pod.

Updates featured in Adobe Connect 9.2 include: A filmstrip view of the video pod. The presenter can also choose to highlight a specific video feed, which can be particularly helpful when multiple people videoconference. The filmstrip view is a module that can be moved to the top or bottom part of the screen depending on the preference of the host. Simplified workflow for first-time users. Presenters who create a meeting for the first time will simply have to follow a link, enter their credentials, and choose a custom URL for their meeting room, which will persist over time. Social log-ins. People joining a meeting can choose to join with their Google or Facebook social network credentials.

The current round of updates includes a number of improvements to meeting entry, which Senior Product Marketing Manager Rocky Mitarai describes as consistent with Adobe Connect's attention to the start-to-finish process. "We try to deliver the not just the in-meeting experience, but everything that has to happen before or after to drive mission-critical workflows," he outlines. For a Webinar, for example, Adobe Connect has landing pages that can easily be customized to encourage people to register. After the Webinar, Adobe Connect has metrics that allow marketers to evaluate the event's success.

Adobe Connect's conferencing applications include business meetings, Webinars, and elearning. Competitors include Cisco's Webex and Citrix's GoToMeeting. Adobe Connect leans toward large enterprise clients, including educational tutoring company Kaplan and a number of governmental organizations. One of Adobe Connect's biggest customers is the Department of Defense, Mitarai says."There are over a million customers using us for things like battle briefings in the field and emergency response scenarios, like Hurricane Katrina or the Boston bombings. They're using Adobe Connect to immediately jump in and start collaborating across devices."

For a client such as the Department of Defense, Adobe Connect offers triple authentication and a private cloud to maintain security. Adobe Connect is also available as a software as a service or on-premises solution, depending on industry preference or compliance requirements.

The update of Adobe Connect 9.2 will be available in early 2014. Current customers of Adobe Connect can check to see when their account will be updated by checking the 9.2 portal
