NetBase Expands Foreign Language Capabilities in Its Enterprise Social Intelligence Platform

NetBase has chosen Basis Technology's Rosette linguistics platform to enhance the ability of its global enterprise social intelligence platform to extract customer perceptions from terabytes of social media chatter in multiple languages.

The NetBase engine uses natural language processing (NLP), text analytics, and machine learning to read, understand, and categorize every posting according to the sentiments, emotions, and key ideas expressed by consumers.

NetBase is using Rosette's linguistic analysis and entity extraction to accelerate development to increase global coverage of historic and real-time monitoring, brand analysis, market research, and product innovation. Rosette offers text analytics capabilities in languages covering Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East.

"With English now making up only about 40 percent of global social media postings, it is becoming increasingly important for our customers to access business and market insights hidden in non-English conversations," said Steve Winters, NetBase's vice president of engineering, in a statement. "Basis Technology allows us to quickly expand the scope of our analysis to the languages our customers demand. We chose Rosette because its accuracy and performance enables us to broaden the global coverage of our technology to discover insights from social media conversations in other languages."

"More and more, social media users around the world are conversing in their native languages. As a result, technologically sophisticated social media monitoring and intelligence firms such as NetBase are integrating Rosette to more quickly add multilingual capability that normally takes years to develop," Steve Kearns, Basis Technology's director of product management, said in a statement. "Non-English speakers are rapidly becoming the majority among social media users, and Rosette is enabling business analysis to follow."
