EPiServer Acquires Mediachase

EPiServer has acquired e-commerce provider Mediachase as it looks to integrate the business processes on the back end to create a better customer experience online for its customer and partner network.

As a result of the acquisition, EPiServer will pick up 150 clients from Mediachase, as well as its product portfolio. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to Bob Egner, EPiServer's vice president of product management and global marketing, EPiServer's digital marketing and cross-channel sales solutions combine with Mediachase's e-commerce capabilities to target and engage customers through a brand's array of channels.

EPiServer first partnered with Mediachase in 2009 to build out e-commerce platforms for companies like Hallmark and Libris. The strategic acquisition will power EPiServer to bridge the gap between sales, marketing, and customer care and lessen the divide between brick-and-mortar stores and online e-commerce.

"We built out the capability to deliver content to mobile devices like smartphones or tablets where the user interaction experience is really quite different," Egner says. "We're combining that technology with the insight [from the] Mediachase e-commerce engine to create a really robust e-commerce solution."

Beyond the online shopping experience, EPiServer Connect for SharePoint and for CRM lets users integrate back-end functions to their Web sites; the EPiServer CMO offers campaign monitoring and optimization to track activity and conversion rates.
